Meet the Team
Humboldt House is a feminist shop filled with the work of local and emerging Chicago makers. We strive to be an incubator for the incredible work and ideas formed within our beautiful artist community. As well as a comforting, community driven safe space for our friends and neighbors to come together to create the future we want to see.
Claire Tibbs is owner of Humboldt House, a Chicago made goods community shop. After calling Humboldt Park home for a few years, Claire knew that it was the neighborhood she wanted to plant roots in. She graduated from Lake Forest College with a degree in Studio Art and began working in contemporary art galleries. With Humboldt House, she was interested in pairing her love for art, design and vintage finds with a community-oriented feminist shop. Humboldt House offers a carefully curated collection of locally found furniture and goods, as well as the work of local jewelry designers, ceramic artists and apothecary makers.
Phoebe Woodall is an artist, designer and the manager of Humboldt House. Born in Hong Kong and raised in New York, she now has called Chicago home for 6 years. Graduating from Pratt Institute with a BFA in design, she loves to explore new mediums and has created works with yarn, fabric, clay, & paint.
As the shop manager, she hopes to continue to foster the welcoming, inclusive, & creative environment she was met with when she was first hired in 2016.
Bry Liggins fell in love with Chicago during her time competing in poetry slam bouts throughout high school. She then relocated from Oklahoma in 2014 to pursue a degree in Cinema Art and Science at Columbia College Chicago. After graduating, her passion for storytelling and community building only became further solidified as she immersed herself in the local art scene. Bry went on to co-found M-F Collective, a growing network of creatives interested in crafting a more sustainable and accessible future. Humboldt House allows her to flex her creative muscle, meet inspiring makers, and embrace herself fully.
Kierah (KIKI) King graduated from Columbia College Chicago in May 2020 with a BFA in Dance and Minor in Black World Studies.
Originally from Hartford, Connecticut, Kierah was homeschooled in her family’s organic café where she learned the power of service, education and creativity as central to life.
Kiki came to Chicago with a passion for social justice, activism, community building, and civic engagement which she shares through forms of performance, teaching, trainings, demonstrations, and different forms of choreographic work and events all throughout the Midwest!
KIKI is so grateful to be apart of Humboldt House & Peach Fuzz and be in an environment and space that allows and fosters her creativity and activism within Chicago.
